The leaves are finally coming out on the trees, summer is so close I can smell it in the air. Now that nature’s thermostat is up I’m on the prowl for great nail polish. Lacquers are a big part of accessorizing for me, plus I like to coordinate the jewellery I’ll be wearing with my nail colour. Not in a matchy sort of way, nail colour can enhance pieces, or allow rings and bracelets to get all of the attention. Here are my favourite Summer 2013 nail enamel colours.

Inviting and Down-to-Earth
Neutrals are key at any time of year, they’re classic staples that I can’t do without. During the summer my closet is packed with lots of different hues, so neutral colours definitely see some wear time. I don’t like to clash my accessories with my nail colour. That sounds kind of old fashioned but simplicity is sleek and smart. When wearing and layering mixed metal jewellery or colourful gemstone pieces I opt for neutral shades.

Sophisticated Neutral Nail Enamels

Spirited Hues
Corals, true red, magenta and violet are my go to colours this season. They may seem very subdued in comparison with this years trends, but I adore their grown-up sexiness and sophistication. These lively tones add colour to your complexion and show off your tan.

Fun & Flirty Hues

Dark and Mysterious
Deep and rich these are my favorite colours for hot sultry nights, dinners, parties, wine and whiskey tastings, or whenever I’m feeling bold or cloak-and-dagger. Their moody yet feisty character even gives them rainy day appeal. Black can be quite overwhelming and harsh, these hues are equally stunning alternatives for summer.
