Sometimes your treasured pieces need a little more TLC than just a good soak in cleaning solution. This ring belongs to a customer of mine who loves jewellery and purchase pieces occasionally on her travels. She adores this puzzle ring and tried for a while to clean it using the usual methods, but nothing seemed to get it back to its original brightness. Many metals after years of wear develop tiny scratches in the finish making it dull and lackluster, the only way to really get it shining again is to have it polished. I tidied up this ring using standard jewellers polishing wheels and polishing compound. You can see the difference a good polishing makes. Once everything was complete my hands were much, much messier than in the photos! And somehow I end up getting polishing compound on my face, every time.

I also polish the inside of the ring which helps to remove tarnish and other buildups.

Giving the outside of the ring a good deep polish to remove the tiny scratches.
